Where to put video on your website so it wins enquiries
Video helps most when it sits next to a decision: a short process clip on your service page, a pricing explainer on your pricing page, and a finished-job clip beside your enquiry form. Host it externally, load it only when someone presses play, and always pair it with the same information in text so search engines and skim-readers get it too.

The four places video earns its keep
- Service pages: a 60-second explanation of how the work is done.
- Pricing pages: you explaining what changes the price.
- Work or gallery pages: short clips of finished jobs.
- Contact page: a friendly clip on what happens after someone enquires.
Keep it fast
- Host on a video platform rather than serving large files from your own site.
- Use a lightweight thumbnail and load the player only when clicked.
- Set width and height so the page doesn't jump as it loads.
- Skip background video loops on mobile entirely.
Make video work for search
Search engines still read text best. Give every video a descriptive heading, a short written summary of what it covers, and captions. That way the page ranks on its own merits and the video adds persuasion rather than carrying the whole page.
Common mistakes
- One long company film on the homepage and nothing else.
- No captions, so muted viewers get nothing.
- Video replacing the written detail a buyer needs to compare you.
- No enquiry button near the player.
We rebuild pages around the decision, video included.
Frequently asked questions
- Does video improve SEO?
- Indirectly. It keeps people on the page and answers questions, but the written content on the page is still what search engines rank.
- Should video autoplay on my homepage?
- No. Autoplaying video slows the first screen on mobile data, which is where most local visitors arrive.
- Where should I host business videos?
- On a video platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, embedded on click. Serving large files from your own hosting slows everything down.
- How many videos does a small site need?
- Three or four well-placed clips beat a dozen scattered ones. One per key decision page is plenty.
