Case study: redesigning the My Cravings Huddersfield website

We redesigned the My Cravings Huddersfield site around one job: get a hungry person from a phone screen to an order in as few taps as possible. That meant a mobile-first menu, obvious ordering and location details on the first screen, faster image loading, and local search foundations so the business shows up when people search for dessert and food spots in Huddersfield.

The situation

Food businesses in Huddersfield live and die on the phone. Someone is out, hungry, scrolling — and they'll pick whichever place answers three questions quickest: what do you sell, where are you, and how do I order right now. If the menu is a slow PDF, or opening hours are buried, they close the tab and order somewhere else.

What we focused on

  • Menu first. The menu is the product page. It loads fast, reads cleanly on a phone, and doesn't hide behind a download.
  • Order and location above the fold. Ordering, address and hours are visible without scrolling on mobile.
  • Image weight. Food photography sells, but heavy images kill mobile pages. Everything is compressed and lazy-loaded.
  • Local search foundations. Clear business name, address and phone details, structured data, and pages written around how people actually search in Huddersfield.
  • Social and site pulling together. The Instagram content that people already see gets a place to send them.

Why this matters for any food business

A restaurant, dessert shop or takeaway website has a much narrower job than a service business site. You are not persuading anyone with paragraphs — you are removing friction between craving and order. Every extra tap costs you covers.

The checklist we use on food sites

  1. Menu reachable in one tap from the homepage.
  2. Prices visible without downloading anything.
  3. Ordering, delivery partners and phone number obvious on mobile.
  4. Opening hours accurate and matching your Google Business Profile.
  5. Photos that look like your actual food, compressed for mobile data.
