TikTok Shop for UK small businesses: worth it, or a distraction?

TikTok Shop works for low-consideration physical products under about £40 that demo well on video. It rarely works for services, high-ticket items or anything that needs explaining. Use it as a discovery channel, but keep your own website checkout so you own the customer, the margin and the repeat purchase.

Who it suits

  • Impulse-priced physical products with a visible before-and-after.
  • Brands able to post several videos a week without it becoming a second job.
  • Sellers with stock depth — going viral with 12 units in the back room is worse than not going viral.

Who it doesn't

Trades, salons, consultants and anyone selling a service. Your customers are searching, not scrolling, at the moment they need you. That budget goes further on a service page that ranks.

Do both properly

The strongest setup we build is social as the shop window and your own site as the till: fast product pages, clear delivery information, saved card checkout, and email capture so the second sale costs you nothing.
