Hidden pricing kills sign-ups
The 'enquire for pricing' approach is borrowed from big-chain sales tactics and it does not work for an independent gym. People compare three gyms in one sitting. If yours is the one that won't say, you're out of the comparison before you're in it.
The trial is the conversion event
Almost nobody joins a gym without seeing it. Make the taster session, free week or first PT consultation bookable in two taps, with a real time slot attached, and treat that booking as the metric that matters.
Content for the other ten months
- Class timetables as real, indexable pages — not a JPEG posted on Instagram.
- Pages for specific goals and searches: strength coaching, postnatal training, over-50s classes.
- Neighbourhood pages where you genuinely draw members from — Marsh, Lindley, Waterloo, Bradley.
- Member results with consent, which double as social proof and search content.
Converted industrial units are an advantage
Huddersfield has a growing set of leisure businesses in converted mill and industrial space — Hat-Tricks at Bates Mill being a visible example. Those buildings look brilliant on camera and they solve parking, which is the second thing every prospective member checks. Put both on the page.
